According to the latest data from the "Bank of Albania", total credit reached 901.6 billion lek in September 2025, with a significant increase of 10.9% compared to September last year, and an increase of 0.1% compared to August of the same year. So, if we talk in absolute figures, it results that in the span of one year it records an increase of 89 billion lek.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, new loans granted by the banking system have reached the value of 34.2 billion lek, marking a decrease of 21% compared to a year earlier.
This increase was mainly driven by new loans for Nabesa purchases, the value of which reached 4.75 billion lek, up from 3.87 billion lek a year earlier. The increase is estimated at around 25.5 billion lek, or almost 7.7% more in annual terms.
On the other hand, individuals and the institutions that serve them have also increased their borrowing significantly. Loans for this category increased from 8.1 billion lek to 9.53 billion lek, an increase of 17.9% compared to September 2024. This shows a significant increase in demand for loans from individuals, reaching a historical record if we analyze the same month of previous years.
As for business loans, they returned to growth in September of this year. 24.56 billion lek of loans were granted to this sector, increasing by about 24.5%, compared to the same month last year.
The latest data from the Bank of Albania show a strong increase in lending across all segments, particularly to individuals and the housing sector. This trend reflects an increased demand for personal financing and real estate investments. Lekë credit accounts for the largest share, but has also recorded the highest growth.
