Saranda, the "hub" of maritime transport for travelers/ Nearly half of the country's passengers traveled from this port during the summer

The number of passengers who traveled by ship during the third quarter of 2025 reached 1 million 10 thousand 888 people, according to the latest INSTAT data. The figures show a significant increase in maritime traffic compared to previous periods, confirming the complete success of the tourism and maritime transport sector.
At the top of the list is the Port of Saranda, which has absorbed 49.2% of all passengers who have traveled through Albanian ports. This port, which mainly serves tourist lines with Corfu, has registered 497 thousand 285 passengers during the quarter, confirming its role as the main gateway for maritime tourism in the country.
On the other hand, Durrës continues to remain the major gateway for international travel with 412,930 passengers, representing 40.8% of the national total. Although there is a slight decrease compared to the same period in 2024, Durrës remains the main hub for commercial and passenger cruises to Italy. Over the last year, the travel structure has changed significantly, with an increase in tourist arrivals and a decrease in departures, which indicates a greater influx of foreign visitors.
The port of Vlora ranks third, with 100,673 passengers or about 10% of the national total.
Although this quarter's figures are lower than in 2024, Vlora continues to remain an important hub for lines with Italy and Greece, especially during the summer season.
