Albanian voters living abroad will be able to participate in the parliamentary elections on May 11th for the first time this year. The registration process on the Electronic Voter Platform (PER) began on January 11th and will last until March 4th.

According to official figures from the Central Election Commission, the number of registered overseas voters has reached 140,518, while 85,788 requests have been approved so far, marking a significant increase in 24 hours.

By gender, the highest percentage of registrants are men with 83,953 (59.7%) requests, while women are 56,565 (40.3%).

As for registration requests by age group, the highest number of requests is from the 26-35 age group with 39,132 requests, followed by the 36-45 age group with 37,976 requests, from the 46-55 age group 26,814 were registered, and from those over 56 years old there were 21,945 requests for registration.

The youngest, the 18-25 age group, have the smallest number of requests, with 14,651 such requests, and also, according to data published by the CEC, 49,627 requests were rejected.

The registration requests come from various countries around the world. The highest number of requests was registered by Italy with 53,042, followed by Greece with 37,984, Germany with 16,739, and the USA with 10,231.

As for requests by municipality, the highest number of applications is for Tirana with 26,962, followed by the municipality of Fier with 19,627, Korça with 1,474, Durrës with 14,631, etc.
