Vengu: Regional Civil Emergency Center in Bushat
Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, was today in Bushat, where the former liaison department will be completely rebuilt to become the Regional Civil Emergency Center for the entire Shkodra Region.
Accompanied by the prefect of Shkodra, Majlinda Angoni, and the Director General of the National Civil Protection Agency, Haki Çako, Minister Vengu closely inspected the premises that will be used for the establishment of this center.
"We are evaluating a number of depreciated assets of the Armed Forces for civil and military purposes. Here we have designated this unit to develop a new function of a Regional Civil Emergency Center ," said Vengu.
Civil emergencies, according to Minister Vengu, are a shared competence of several institutions, so this regional center is being built to further strengthen the capacity of municipalities.
Vengu emphasized that the Regional Civil Emergency Center will serve the Shkodra and Lezha areas.
"The regional center has all the capacities to support both regions, especially in the area between Shëngjin and Velipoja where we have year-round tourism, in order to not only enable municipalities to react to disasters such as fires during the summer season, but also to face additional demands coming from the influx of year-round tourism," he added.
Vengu announced that this unit had been neglected for years and now is the time to put it into operation. " Every time air support is required, the aircraft are forced to return to their bases for supply. With this, we give the aircraft the opportunity to be supplied at this center ," said Vengu.
