Intervention in the Krraba Tunnel - ARRSH prepares the tender, there is road deformation in both tubes
The Krraba Tunnel, on the Tirana - Elbasan highway, will undergo interventions to repair defects in its floor. The Albanian Road Authority considers this intervention as emergency, as it plans to open a tender for this purpose. For some time now, deformations have been created in both of its tubes in this tunnel, while at the entrance, vehicle drivers are advised to reduce speed, due to deformations in the road.
This tunnel is located on one of the most important highways in the country, as it connects Tirana with Elbasan and the southeastern part of the country. Also, many citizens use this highway to access the south of the country, which makes it an important junction for vehicle traffic, especially during the summer season.
The Krraba Tunnel has 2 tubes with a length of 2580.3 meters on the right side and 2320.6 meters on the left, and is currently maintained through a contract concluded by the ARRSH with a private entity. The company is responsible for the management and proper functioning of the tunnel, its surrounding areas, as well as the maintenance of the tunnel's equipment and operating systems until 2027. According to the contract, it must provide the required services in cooperation with the ARRSH, the Police Structures, the Tunnel Fire Service Brigade, as well as all other authorities involved for this purpose.
