Waiting times at border crossing points reduced/ Government approves agreement with North Macedonia
There will be common border crossing points between Albania and North Macedonia, with the aim of facilitating the movement of passengers and vehicles exchanging goods between the two countries. This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Besfort Lamallari, during the presentation of the government's decisions, as he added that until approval in the respective parliaments, a testing period will be used to facilitate in practice the crossings of citizens and goods through the border points that are part of the agreement.
" A very important decision that was approved today is the agreement that was signed at the end of June together with the counterpart of North Macedonia on joint border crossing points and the joint performance of the activities of the relevant border control authorities, defining more simplified procedures for both travelers and vehicles, which exchange goods between our two countries, and this is a contribution not only to the growth of quality tourism in terms of simplified procedures without queues, but also to a stronger economy between our two countries, given that businesses benefit precisely from this agreement, which from this moment is directly referred to the Albanian Parliament for approval and ratification ," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the commitment that Albania has undertaken within the Peace Board to send troops to Gaza, Defense Minister Ermal Nufi stated that next week the government will adopt a decision on the number of troops.
" The engagement is mainly related to the fact that we will send staff officers to the Headquarters of the International Stabilization Force. We have conducted a mission to review the territory, circumstances, conditions in Gaza, after that mission, we will send staff officers who will become part of the Headquarters of the International Stabilization Force. With the sending of these forces, these staff officers, an assessment will also be made for the engagement of specific troops. There we will be able to specify then how many troops will be sent, where they will be sent specifically and what their mission will be ," said Nufi.
Regarding the agreement signed with the United States of America for the granting of a loan of 300 million euros in the field of defense, the Minister stated that it will be used for the development and modernization of defense capacities and systems.
