The Murriz Tunnel, part of the Arbri Road, will open to drivers on the summer day, March 14. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, inspected the works, where she announced that progress has been extraordinary and the final details are now being finalized.

"It seems unbelievable now that everything seems to be over. On March 14, we will most likely open the Murriz Tunnel for all drivers in the direction of Tirana and Dibra. In the meantime, we are already working on the emergency tunnel with all its exits. Arbri Road will mark the economic growth of this entire area and the increase in the tourist season for the north." -Belinda Balluku. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure

"In total, there are 11 exits, all of which have been concreted, ready for use, one part is used for vehicles, the other part only for pedestrians. Also, at the entrance to the tunnel, the monitoring building has been completed, equipment has been installed that will monitor the tunnel 24 hours a day, whether for accidents, various breakdowns and the fire-fighting system." -Gentian Gjyli, Director of ARRSH

The Murriz Tunnel is a complex 3.8 km long project consisting of two tubes, one for traffic and one for emergency. The tunnel will shorten the distance between Dibra and Tirana to just 2 hours. The works on this tunnel, which is part of the Arbri Road, have been slow due to difficult geology and landslides.
