Minister Hasani welcomes the Secretary General of the Council of Europe: "Albania's progress in many directions was appreciated. Kosovo deserves membership in the EC"
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, welcomed today in Tirana, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset.
This visit is particularly symbolic and important as the year 2025 also coincides with the 30th anniversary of Albania's membership in the Council of Europe. Through a publication on his social network, Hasani underlined:
"During the meeting, Albania's progress in strengthening democracy, the rule of law and human rights was appreciated, as well as its active role in international organizations and its support for Ukraine."
Among other things, Hasani states that he has asked Berset to join Kosovo as soon as possible in the Council of Europe:
"I also took the opportunity to underline to Berset that Kosovo's well-deserved membership in the Council of Europe should happen as soon as possible. Albania remains steadfast in its support for it, seeing it as a key point for regional stability and the promotion of democracy and human rights."
