Barren lands, in international auction/ Balluku: Municipalities will become partners in development
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, has declared the launch of a new process in cooperation with all municipalities in the country, with the aim of putting barren lands in the Albanian territory to use.
"During the analysis and study of the territory, we have reached the conclusion that all those barren lands in the various municipalities should be made available for public auctions," declared Balluku.
According to her, there have often been requests for long-term lease use of these lands, but municipalities have not had the capacity or legal framework to organize proper auctions.
"In full cooperation with municipalities, we have begun identifying lands registered in their inventories, which are unproductive and do not serve agriculture or local development. These properties will be transferred to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, to be used in international auctions with full transparency," said Balluku.
This process aims not only to increase foreign investment in the territory, but also to actively involve municipalities, which will be official partners in every procedure, benefiting from the revenues that will be generated and ensuring fair benefits for citizens.
"With the experience and partnerships we have with international bodies, we will guarantee full certification and high standards. Municipalities will benefit from this process and citizens will see real development in their territory," the Deputy Prime Minister said, among other things.
This initiative is seen as a new step towards the strategic use of underutilized public assets and the broader involvement of international investors in Albania's territorial development.
