Fixed telephony, towards "disappearance" - AKEP: About 4.5% fewer

Fewer and fewer people are using landlines in Albania. The latest data from the Financial Supervisory Authority show that the number of people using a landline at home or in their business has continued to decline even in the third quarter of last year.

The total number of active landline numbers has decreased by 0.3% compared to the second quarter of 2024 and by 4.5% compared to the third quarter of 2023. In the July-September period, there are only 167 thousand lines of landline subscribers.

On the other hand, the number of individuals with broadband Internet access from fixed networks reached about 634 thousand in the third quarter of the year, a figure that represents an increase of 2.2% compared to the previous quarter and an increase of about 8.2% compared with the first period in 2023.

Broadband access from fixed networks includes Internet access with DSL, cable modem, fiber to the home/premises and others, but does not include mobile broadband access.

Fixed network users who have access to integrated services such as telephone, internet and television reached about 299 thousand, a decrease of 0.4% estimated with the period July-September 2023.

Albanian citizens spend more on internet and television packages. Those who buy triple packages (telephone, internet and TV) make up 23.4% of the total number of subscribers with integrated packages, while 29.8% are with "Internet and Phone" packages and 46.8% with "Internet and TV" packages.

Approximately 45% of subscribers with broadband access to fixed networks were subscribers with integrated packages, where 11% were with triple packages, telephone, internet and television.
