Energy relief schemes - Hundreds of families, businesses and institutions benefit from interest rate reductions

The relief schemes for the repayment of arrears of electricity are yielding the first concrete results, as hundreds of families and businesses have entered into agreements for the liquidation of debts in installments.
According to data published by OSHEE Group, as of April 20, 2026, 883 household clients have signed agreements with the Universal Service Provider (USP), with 521 of them benefiting from a reduction of up to 70% in late payment interest through immediate payment of obligations.
The progress of the scheme shows that the benefits are not limited to family members. In total, 76 institutions have benefited from full forgiveness of late interest, while in the business sector, 108 large entities have been registered that have benefited from a 50% reduction and 5 small businesses that have benefited from 100% forgiveness of interest.
The scheme, which aims to ease the financial burden of consumers and improve the level of collections, allows customers to repay the obligations created until the end of 2024 through monthly installments. For families in need, installments start from 1,200 lek per month, while for other categories from 2,800 lek, with a maximum term of up to 240 installments.
For non-family entities, the payment term varies from 24 to 120 installments, depending on the amount of the obligation. At the same time, the scheme provides incentives for immediate payments, significantly reducing late payment interest or completely forgiving it for certain categories.
