Scheme for self-production of electricity - In 1 year, 1249 self-consumers fed 1720 mWh of energy into the grid
Self-producers of electricity have injected a small amount of energy into the grid, which suggests that the vast majority was necessary to meet their needs. According to official data, during 2024, self-producers connected to the 35 KV and 20 KV voltages injected a total of 1720 mWh into the grid, mainly during the summer months when production is also higher.
Despite the modest values, these figures are important in terms of the functioning of this scheme, as self-production of electricity presents a number of advantages, ranging from lower costs for consumers to the creation of a more sustainable, more inclusive and lower carbon emissions energy system.
According to the legislation in force, any subscriber who owns a photovoltaic plant for self-production purposes may inject the excess energy produced into the distribution network for the purpose of its use in a period of up to one year, while the net balance and billing are made on an annual basis, for each authorized measurement point.
According to the latest available data, the total number of consumers holding the status of self-producer of electricity is 1249, while the total installed capacity from this category reached 119 mWp. 60% of these plants are located in Tirana and Durrës.
