"Albanian banking system, stable" - Governor Sejko meets with the Executive Director for Albania at the WB
As part of his participation in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, Governor Gent Sejko held a meeting with Mr. Matteo Bugamelli, Executive Director for Albania at the World Bank.
During the meeting, the latest macroeconomic developments in the country were discussed, with an emphasis on economic growth, inflation and the role of monetary policy in maintaining financial stability.
Governor Sejko emphasized the positive performance of the Albanian banking system, which according to him continues to remain stable, liquid and well-capitalized, supporting lending to the economy and businesses.
The meeting also appreciated the close cooperation with the World Bank, especially in terms of structural reforms, improving the business climate and sustainable economic development of Albania.
Just a few days ago, amidst global uncertainty, the International Monetary Fund was more optimistic about Albania's economy, with its latest assessment stating that Albania's economy will grow by 3.8% this year, rather than the 3.5% forecast in January. The main engines of economic growth are expected to be tourism and construction.
