Is the deadline for diaspora registration postponed? - PS, against the DP

March 4th is the deadline for diaspora registration for the May 11th parliamentary elections.

The Democratic Party has requested that this date be postponed for a few days, with the justification that more immigrants can register.

But the Socialist Party has objected, arguing that a 2-3 day postponement would not change the situation.

But what does the State Election Commissioner think?

"March 9 is a date that we cannot go beyond because it is determined by law. Until the 9th, we can talk and discuss other deadlines, so we cannot go beyond the 9th. There was a request to extend the deadline for days, for us there is no problem, but the Socialist Party did not agree with this idea, saying that the 4th is known to everyone and that it is the last deadline and extending it for 2 or 3 days would not change anything major."

As of noon on Monday, out of 272,267 registration requests, about 219,000 requests have been approved, while 42,122 voters have had their requests rejected.

"It might be appropriate to have a 2-3 day extension only for those who have applied once and their application was rejected. For these 42 thousand, my opinion is that it is worth extending this deadline."

A few days ago, the CEC requested 9.3 million euros in additional funds from the Parliament and the Ministry of Finance for the emigrant voting process, and according to Celibashi, there is an agreement to approve this fund.
