Interest in modern vehicles increases / January-April, new vehicle registrations in Albania increase by 62%

The General Directorate of Road Transport Services announces that there has been a significant increase in the registration of latest generation vehicles.
According to published data, during the period January-April 2026, 8,235 vehicles produced in the last 0-4 years were registered, or 62% more compared to the same period in 2025. These data are a positive indicator for the renewal of the vehicle fleet in circulation and the increase in citizens' interest in more modern and efficient vehicles.
The General Directorate of Road Transport Services also highlights the situation of vehicles that have resulted in problems during the technical inspection. According to statistics, 30 thousand 452 vehicles, or 24% of the total number of vehicles tested, have remained, been rejected or have been awaiting re-submission. This is because a significant part of the vehicles have needed technical intervention to meet safety and functioning standards.
Of these, 26,546 vehicles have been retested after repairs, accounting for 87.2% of the total number of vehicles tested. Meanwhile, 3,867 vehicles are still awaiting re-introduction, or 12.7%.
From the published data, only 39 devices were ultimately rejected, which represents 0.1 percent of the total devices tested during this period.
Increasing the registration of new vehicles and improving technical inspection directly impact on increasing road safety and reducing pollution.
