Albanians are buying more new cars - Over 74 thousand vehicles have been registered in 9 months

Motorization in Albania continues to grow at a high rate. The latest data from the General Directorate of Road Transport Services shows that, during the period January to September 2025, a total of 74 thousand 73 vehicles were registered.
This figure represents an increase of 101% compared to the same period in 2019, indicating not only a greater interest of citizens in road vehicles, but also an improvement in access to transport infrastructure and services.
Of these, over 60,500 are cars, which make up the majority of new registrations. Interest in the latest generation of vehicles, which have been produced within the last four years, is also growing. During this period, 14,724 such vehicles were registered, marking an increase of 8 percent compared to 2024.
This trend shows a clear orientation towards safer, more technologically equipped and more fuel-efficient vehicles. But which countries do most of the vehicles circulating on Albanian roads today come from? At the top of the list is the Republic of Korea with 20.9 percent, followed by Italy with 15.7 percent, Germany with 15.6, Switzerland and China with 8.5 percent each, as well as the United States of America with 8.1 percent.
In parallel with the increase in registrations, the final deregistrations of old vehicles have also increased. During the first 9 months of this year, 6,128 vehicles were deregistered, an increase of 18.4 percent compared to the same period a year ago.
