Business payroll "shakes up" - Anti-informality, tax paid increases. 631 million euros in 9 months

The fight against informality launched a year ago by the tax administration, focusing on wage understatement and tax evasion, has significantly increased revenues in the state budget.
Data from the Ministry of Finance show that the tax paid on the salaries received by employees has increased significantly during the first 9 months of this year, compared to the previous year. Specifically, about 63.1 billion lek or 631 million euros have been collected from this item, with an increase of 133 million euros compared to the previous year, registering the highest percentage increase in relation to other items and 62 million euros in relation to the planning made by the Ministry of Finance for the 9 months.
While in a decade, income from this item has tripled.
In the personal income tax item, the highest contribution is made by the tax on salaries of employees in the private and public sectors, followed by the tax paid from the sale of real estate, which is at the level of 15 percent, as well as the tax on rents. This shows that in addition to salaries, the real estate sector has also had positive performance and the finalization of transactions, as well as the increase in the price of rents mainly in the capital, has caused the payment of taxes to be higher for those declared rents. Also, a considerable space is occupied by the tax on income from dividends and the tax on income from interest.
Meanwhile, the doubling of the number of employees who completed the Individual Income Tax Declaration this year, due to the reduction of the income declaration threshold to 1.2 million lek per year, has had a considerable impact.
Another item that reflects anti-informativity is related to the revenues generated from profit tax. In total, 45.3 billion lek or 453 million euros were collected in 9 months, with an increase of 20 million euros compared to the previous year.
