Elimination of "black spots" on national roads - ARRSH, 83 million lek funding to increase road safety

The Albanian Road Authority has announced the opening of the tender for the elimination of "black spots" on the national road network. Referring to the document at the Public Procurement Agency, works will be carried out to increase road safety at junctions or parts of the road, classified as "black spots".
Based on the information received from the General Directorate of the State Police, regarding the priority of "black spots" and at the same time based on the database of accidents with the highest number of fatalities and serious injuries, a list of the most problematic black spots has been compiled.
The segments that require immediate intervention for their elimination are: the intersection of the national road with the road that connects the village of Laknas with the village of Bërxulle and the entire surrounding area. Citizens who choose this road as the shortest route to go to Tirana, make this cross-shaped junction, double "T" quite busy. The large flow of vehicles on the main road and the long waiting of vehicles on the secondary road, pushes the latter to make wrong maneuvers, which result in accidents with serious consequences.
Qafë Kashar-Rinas road segment, progress junction. 3 accidents have been recorded at this junction. This junction is not lit and is not equipped with a left turn lane, acceleration or deceleration lane. One of the secondary roads connecting to this junction is unpaved.
Further listed as "black spots" are the Elbasan - Rrogozhinë road segment; the Dajç - Gramsh junction, where there is a lack of road safety elements. Meanwhile, on the Balldre - Mabë bend road segment, the Gjadrit junction, an emigrant reception center has been built, which increases the movement of vehicles. 5 accidents have been recorded at this junction. Similarly, interventions will be made on the Balldre - Mabë bend road segment, as well as on the Qerekë, Tapizë - F. Krujë road segment.
Referring to the document, the final elimination of black spots will be possible, by intervening in the improvement of signage; in road safety elements and in the lighting of the junction, in that road segment that is problematic. The overall objective of this project is the elimination of road accidents, restoring, improving and increasing road safety for all its users.
The limit fund made available for this project is 83 million and 328 thousand lekë.
