The Renaissance of the “Asllan Rusi” Sports Palace - the 6 finalist teams presented their architectural project ideas
The international competition for the Renaissance of the “Asllan Rusi” Sports Palace is taking place in the capital. In this competition, the 6 finalist teams presented their architectural project ideas to the jury. Present at the International Competition, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the “Asllan Rusi” Sports Palace, which has been a point of reference and that today, in a new time, deserves a new form, a new strength and a new attention.
"I believe that the finalist teams of this competition will once again put us in a difficult position to select the best project because they are all teams with extraordinary talents and proven capacities in many other countries. They are teams, some of which are currently working in Albania and we are very proud of this, but I am confident that with the international jury that we have created this time, we will also succeed in making a proper judgment.
I do not want to waste any more time on the competition. At the same time, I want to express my pleasure that I see in the hall some of the great protagonists of the time when the sports palace was overflowing with competition, with the spirit of competition, with the fans and I am very confident that with this project we will bring them back, but we will also bring back precisely that spirit and that irreplaceable energy of the Asllan Rus space where I am hopeful that the whole new sports movement that we have created in all schools and that is growing year after year with the participation of over 12 thousand children, girls and boys "under the auspices of the Albanian Olympic Committee, it will supply this sports palace with new arrivals and new talents and stars."
For his part, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, said that Asllan Rusi is not just a sports palace, but a part of our history.
"This project is an act of restoring dignity, a way to respect our sporting heritage, as we build an increasingly modern future. With the revival of Asllan Rus, we aim to create a true arena for indoor sports, a unique, contemporary, safe and functional space, which will serve for the most important national and international competitions."
According to the Director of the Albanian Investment Corporation, Elira Kokona, "The goal is for the new sports palace to be transformed into a new multifunctional structure that meets international technical standards for a wide range of sports disciplines.
Director of the Albanian Investment Corporation, Elira Kokona, stated that "The goal is for the new sports palace to be transformed into a new multifunctional structure that meets international technical standards for a wide range of sports disciplines. Each of these disciplines will be equipped with a dedicated space. The Municipality of Tirana, the owner of this new space, will benefit from a sports palace of a minimum of 13,500 square meters of construction above ground, from the 5,000 that are today, with a maximum modular capacity of 6,000 seats, 2,500 square meters of dedicated outdoor spaces and 12,500 square meters of public parking. The new sports palace creates sustainable economic values, encourages local entrepreneurship and turns sports into an element of everyday life."
In May of this year, the Council of Ministers authorized the Albanian Investment Corporation to act as a property developer, with the aim of implementing the investment project “Revitalization of the ‘Asllan Rusi’ Hand-held Gaming Palace”. According to the decision, the Corporation will be responsible for opening and conducting the competitive procedure for the selection of the private partner, which will develop the property through the entrepreneurship instrument, making this entity the contracting authority.
