The Diaspora Business Chamber has successfully organized the Economic Forum within the framework of the Diaspora Summit 2026, bringing to Tirana important Albanian businesses in the world and powerful international companies that are interested in the Albanian market.

The President of the Chamber of Diaspora Business, Ardian Lekaj, gave important messages about supporting diaspora investments and the importance they can provide for the Albanian economy. On the other hand, the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, promised support for these businesses, citing as an example the funds of the Start Up program, from which Albanians in the diaspora also benefit.

In a room full of diaspora businesses, local entrepreneurs, foreign companies, and representatives of Albanian institutions, concrete projects and sectors were discussed, where the diaspora can invest and make a real contribution.

Albania is the third country in the world for the largest diaspora. 2.2 million citizens live and work mainly in Italy, Greece, the United States of America, Germany, Canada, the United Kingdom and Belgium. With the organization of the Chamber of Commerce of the Diaspora, with the theme “Through our roots we rise”, successful Albanians from around the world gathered in Tirana, guaranteeing that the connection with Albania will continue to be even stronger.

Data shows that the majority of investments by Albanians in the diaspora, especially in the last five years, have gone into projects in sectors such as agritourism, tourism, agriculture, and financial services.

Albania's economic benefits from the diaspora extend in several directions, to capital, knowledge, experience, foreign investments, tourism and above all to the money they bring to families in their homeland. To understand the size of remittances, it is enough to remember that last year alone they reached 1.1 billion euros. Today, the role of the diaspora becomes even more vital on the path to membership in the European Union and diaspora businesses can make a major contribution to the transformation of Albanian business to be ready for European markets.
