Green vehicle fleet grows - January-March, 73% of new cars are electric
Green vehicles continue to increase their dominance in road traffic in Albania. Official data from the General Directorate of Road Transport Services shows that for the first quarter of 2025, 980 all-electric vehicles were registered, or 55% more compared to the same period a year earlier.
The positive performance is also reflected in the fact that 33% of vehicles with 0 km registered for the first time are fully electric.
The total fleet of electric vehicles reached 7,358 in March 2025, 15% more than in 2024. Meanwhile, 73% of vehicles with 0 km registered for the first time are electric/plug-in hybrids.
These figures demonstrate a transformation in the transportation culture in our country and reflect citizens' interest in green transportation alternatives.
On the other hand, the registration of electric vehicles has contributed to reducing CO2 emissions by 1,293,600 kg per year. This translates into 3,120 cleaner environmental lungs.
Likewise, according to data from the DPSHTRR, 72.1% of vehicles registered during January-March 2025 are Euro 5 or above or newer, significantly improving the quality of the road fleet in the country.
