Vehicle registrations increase, over 30 thousand in four months - DPSHTRR: Cars dominate the market, accounting for 79% of registrations

The domestic vehicle market has continued to show positive growth rates during the first four months of 2026. The latest data from the General Directorate of Road Transport Services on the registration of vehicles for the first time show a steady increase in the number of vehicles in circulation, reflecting the growing interest of citizens in investing in vehicles. Likewise, the data show a steady pace of circulation and renewal of the vehicle fleet in the country.
During the period January - April 2026, a total of 30,799 vehicles were registered, or 5.3% more compared to the same period in 2025.
In the overall structure of registered vehicles, cars account for the largest share. During the first four months of the year, 24,413 cars were registered, representing 79.3% of total registrations. This shows that vehicles for family and personal use remain the main choice of citizens.
This positive trend is linked to several main factors. One of them is the increase in imports of used vehicles from European markets, which continue to have high demand due to more affordable prices. Another element that has influenced the increase in registrations is the need to renew the existing vehicle fleet. Many citizens are replacing old vehicles with more economical and fuel-efficient vehicles, while there is also an interest in hybrid and electric vehicles.
