The State Labor Inspectorate is restructured - A new institution with five regional directorates is created
The government has approved the creation of the Central Labor Inspectorate, which will replace the State Inspectorate of Labor and Social Services. The new institution will be a public, budgetary legal entity, headquartered in Tirana and subordinate to the minister responsible for labor. Financing will be provided from the state budget and other legal sources.
The Central Labor Inspectorate will have the mission of guaranteeing compliance with labor legislation through inspections, counseling, preventing violations and imposing sanctions. Inspections will focus on working conditions, working hours, wages, insurance, hygiene and well-being in the workplace, as well as the employment of children, minors and women.
The institution will be organized at two levels, at the central level through the central directorate, and regionally through 5 respective directorates. According to the decision, the Tirana directorate will cover only this region, while the Durrës directorate will also cover Dibra, and the Vlora directorate will have under its jurisdiction the Vlora, Fier, and Gjirokastër regions. The Korça directorate will cover Elbasan and Berat, while the Shkodra directorate will include Lezha and Kukës.
The procedures for the reorganization of the institution must be completed within six months from the entry into force of the decision. Until the full functioning of the new structure, the current inspectorate will continue its activities according to the existing organization.
