Reporting to the Parliament, SPAK has seized 65.5 million euros of criminal assets

The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, presented the SPAK report for 2024 to the Parliament. In his speech, Dumani emphasized that SPAK, in the past year, has seized assets worth 65.5 million euros, which are suspected to have come from criminal activity.
"A positive indicator is also the number of criminal proceedings for laundering the proceeds of crime. Compared to 2023, this increase is 34%. The value of seized and confiscated assets is 65.5 million euros. For criminal offenses related to electoral crimes, there are 43 criminal proceedings and 7 people under investigation.
Regarding the proceedings initiated with referrals from citizens, compared to 2023 we have an increase of 27%. The number of detainees from SPAK constitutes 9.7% of the total detentions in Albania. The security measure "arrest with prison" has been applied to 263 persons, of which 12% are for persons suspected of organized crime.
46 cases, or about 40% of the cases of persons under investigation for 2024, were conducted without security measures.

A decision has been made to ban 35 individuals and legal entities from holding public office. The head of SPAK has filed 12 requests for special detention. In 2024, 41 extraditions were approved by the Ministry of Justice. Around 34 percent of the investigated persons have been sent for trial," Dumani said, among other things.
