Rama-Costa: Committed to concluding negotiations within 2027
Prime Minister Edi Rama met today in Brussels with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, with whom he discussed the progress made in the negotiation process, also regarding the opening of another group of chapters at the fourth Intergovernmental Conference.
In a joint statement from Brussels before the meeting, Rama informed that the topics to be discussed include preparations for the European Political Community Summit on May 16, as well as the situation in the region, where the President will make his first official visit on the eve of this Summit.
"I am very pleased to be here with the President of the European Council, whose wisdom and attention to our country and region is something I greatly appreciate. Today is certainly a very good day for us because we have another Conference and other chapters are opening, while I am very grateful to the President for the time he has dedicated to me to have a conversation about the progress we are making in this process," he said.
The upcoming summit of the European Political Community, according to Rama, is a very, very important event in general, but it has a special importance at this moment and at this time.
"Of course we will also talk about the region to which the President is particularly committed. So there is a lot to discuss, but overall I am very, very encouraged by these developments," Rama said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that "we are extremely committed to fulfilling all the tasks of the calendar, which is very ambitious to close all negotiations within 2027."
