Fourth Albania-EU Intergovernmental Conference in Luxembourg: Chapter group on "Internal Market" opens!
The fourth intergovernmental conference between Albania and the European Union is being held in Luxembourg today, with Prime Minister Edi Rama also attending.
The European Council announces in a statement published on its official website that today's meeting will pave the way for negotiations on group chapter 2, which relates to the EU Internal Market.
This group includes chapters dealing with the free movement of goods, freedom of movement of workers, the right of establishment and provision of services, free movement of capital, company law, intellectual property, competition policies, and consumer and health protection.
Rama heads the Albanian delegation in these talks, consisting of ministers, deputy ministers and heads of work for the relevant chapters.
The Prime Minister will first visit Brussels, where he will be received by the President of the European Council Antonio Costa, with whom he will hold a one-on-one meeting, and then travel to Luxembourg to participate in the fourth Albania-EU Intergovernmental Conference, where EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos will also be present.
At the start of the conference, Prime Minister Rama will deliver the opening speech on behalf of Albania. On behalf of the EU, the statement will be delivered by Radosław Sikorski, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, which holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU.
At the conclusion of the Conference proceedings, Prime Minister Edi Rama, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski, and EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos will hold a joint press conference.
