Fewer illegal constructions in 2024 - 1130 illegal buildings were officially verified across the country
Last year, 1,130 illegal constructions were officially detected across the country. According to the report of the General Prosecutor's Office, this figure is about 2% lower compared to 2023.
The highest number of criminal offenses against the legal regime of land was registered in Tirana with 19%. Meanwhile, the highest rate per 100 thousand inhabitants was in Saranda with 284 proceedings and Vlora with 235 such proceedings.
According to data, over the last five years, the highest number of unauthorized constructions across the country was recorded in 2021 with 1,757 cases. Meanwhile, 2022 marked fewer cases, with 1,125 such cases.
In January, the Parliament approved the waiver of fines for illegal construction in the countryside and COVID-19. The waiver of fines came as a proposal from 35 socialist deputies.
The law repeals penalties not executed by the authorities for the period from January 1, 2015 to November 30, 2024.
The beneficiaries are individuals who have intervened without prior permission in constructions for residential purposes, in storage, processing, and trading facilities for agricultural and livestock products. Based on the calculation made, the total value reaches a figure of 2.5 billion lekë.
