Major Project/ Gjirokastra Region with a new electrical network - The investment of 279 million lek covers a geographical area of 450 km²
DSO is getting ready to make a major intervention in the Gjirokastra region by renovating the electrical system. For this purpose, the tender aimed at investments in areas that are experiencing high development from tourism has been opened
The district of Gjirokastra will soon have a renewed electrical network. The Regional Directorate of DSO Gjirokastër has announced the tender worth 279.9 million ALL for the development of the Medium Voltage network, cabins and Low Voltage network with ABC cable in the Gjirokastër Regional Directorate.
The project includes the construction of the low voltage network, the construction of the medium voltage network and new cabins.
This project is necessary as this area currently has a network in bad technical condition, very busy and with high technical and non-technical losses.
The project covers a geographical area of 450 km² and about 4700 subscribers (family and private).
The region of Gjirokastër is among the largest regions of Albania. The cities of Gjirokastra, Përmet, Tepelena, Delvina and their peripheral areas are characterized by an intensive all-round development, especially of constructions with touristic purposes (guesthouses) in the vicinity of the cities, especially in the areas of Përmet, Nivica and Këlcyra.
These factors have caused the rates of growth in electricity demand to be quite high. An appropriate electrical infrastructure must be developed for the tourist area, to guarantee a quality service to current consumers and at the same time be in line with the expected long-term developments of the area.
The construction of the new 0.4 kV low voltage network will reduce the technical losses of electricity from the current 40% to 15%.
