EBRD invests in Mount Tomorri - In addition to Berat Castle, a new road starts

Berat Castle will undergo interventions thanks to an EBRD project. Part of the financing project is also the construction of a new 15.2 kilometer road on Mount Tomorri. In total, the funds that will be used for these 2 projects reach 3.2 million euros

With a total of 3.2 million euros, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has announced the winning company that will carry out the intervention in Berat Castle and Tomorri Mountain. The tenders were opened a few months ago, as both contracts were won by the Salillari company and have a value of about 1.6 million euros each. 

Interventions in Berat Castle aim to improve the potential of cultural tourism, increasing the tourist attractiveness of this destination. This through improving access to this tourist attraction.

According to EBRD, the main objective of the contract is the execution of the best technical and cost-effective solution for the realization of a sustainable protection of the Osum River, stopping the progressive erosion of the river banks near the roads in the vicinity of the castle.

Meanwhile, the interventions in Malin e Tomorri are aimed at improving the natural tourist offer, improving accessibility and include the construction of the road axis from the intersection of the Berat - Poliçan road, in the village of Vodice to the village of Dardhë, with a length of 15.2 km and the restoration and expansion of the Tap of Tariko, in Tomorr.

These interventions are part of the project for Infrastructure and Tourism in Albania, which is financed by the European Union through technical assistance and investment grants in a total amount of 40 million euros, as well as by the supplementary sovereign loan granted by the EBRD to the government of Albania.
