State Police, plan of measures for the end-of-year holidays - Increased checks and patrols throughout the country

The State Police has taken increased security measures throughout the country, with the aim of guaranteeing public order and safety during the year-end holidays and the first days of New Year 2026. To prevent incidents and criminal events, the General Directorate of the State Police has drafted a special plan of measures, with clear tasks for all local and central police structures.
According to the State Police, the measures foresee an increased presence of police services throughout the territory, with the aim of guaranteeing public order and preventing criminal activities.
Special attention will be paid to managing the flow of citizens at border crossing points. In this context, counters and human resources will be increased at all BCPs, while at land points, cooperation with counterparts in neighboring countries will be intensified to avoid long queues and facilitate traffic on both sides of the border. At the same time, border controls and patrols at the green border will be increased to prevent border crimes.
The Traffic Police will intensify traffic monitoring measures, using intelligent speedometers, drones, breathalyzers and increased patrols on road axes, with the aim of reducing accidents and increasing safety. According to the Police, every administrative measure has as its sole objective the guarantee of road safety and the prevention of accidents.
The Police will also cooperate with local government bodies, religious institutions and Municipal Police for the smooth running of Christmas and New Year's festive ceremonies. The presence of police services will be increased in various environments, restaurants, bars and shopping centers that have a high frequency of citizens, to prevent conflicts and criminal incidents.
The measures also include intensifying controls on entities that trade in pyrotechnics. There will also be close cooperation with private physical security services to strengthen security measures.
