State Police announces: Beware of fake email addresses!

The State Police announces that recently, several cases have been identified of unidentified citizens who have created a fake email address, with the credentials of the General Director of the State Police, and through it, have presented themselves as a structure for the Investigation of Cybercrimes.
According to the notification with this address, citizens have been sent threatening electronic messages, informing them that they are under investigation for cybercrimes or criminal offenses in the field of narcotics, and asking them to report to the police within 24 hours.
We inform you that the emails are fake and have no connection to the State Police or any of its official structures.
Citizens should keep in mind:
• The State Police never sends official notifications of investigations via email.
• No police structure requires citizens to report to the police without an official, signed and documented summons.
• The purpose of these messages is to deceive and spread fear among citizens.
The State Police calls on citizens not to respond to or distribute emails with such content.
We also inform you that the case is under investigation by the Cyber Crimes Investigation Directorate, with the aim of identifying and punishing the perpetrators of this criminal activity.
