Solar panels, savings and security - The number doubles in 1 decade. The installation reduces monthly consumption by 180 kWh
The use of solar panels is gaining more and more attention, becoming a priority for the government. After the first program, where 1,981 Albanian families benefited from a 70% subsidy from the state for their installation, a second call has been opened, which aims to support another 2,000 families.
According to the latest data from the Census, 86,125 households in Albania have already installed solar water heating systems, a figure that has doubled the number of households using this technology in a decade.
Furthermore, it is a factor that has contributed to the decrease in the use of electric boilers, with a decrease of 24% in the last 12 years.
However, despite the decline, the boiler is still used by most families, especially in large cities like Tirana, where installing solar panels on buildings is a major challenge due to space and infrastructure.
Furthermore, there are currently around 1.1 million household subscribers registered in Albania. According to estimates, an average household that has not yet installed solar panels consumes around 718 kWh of electricity per month.
However, installing solar panels can reduce consumption by 25%, saving up to 179 kWh per month, a saving that translates into a significant reduction in electricity costs.
In addition to economic benefits, solar panels offer other benefits, such as contributing to reducing the load on the electrical grid, making energy more stable and secure.
They are also a more efficient energy source, providing clean and renewable energy. Solar panels have a lifespan that can go up to 30 years, guaranteeing a sustainable return on investment.
