OSHEE approves relief for energy debts/Low installments and up to 100% reduction in interest rates
The Electricity Distribution Operator has approved new relief schemes for the installment payment of arrears from electricity bills, which have accumulated until December 31, 2023. These agreements aim to support the most vulnerable segments of families, as well as small businesses, by offering real opportunities for coping with and gradually repaying debts.
But who benefits from these agreements?
According to OSHEE, the beneficiaries of this scheme are family clients with economic assistance, retired heads of households and persons with special status who can benefit from fixed monthly installments starting from 1200 lek. Meanwhile, other family clients will have the opportunity to repay their obligations in installments starting from 2800 lek per month. In order to maintain a balance between affordability and fairness, OSHEE has decided that the maximum number of installments will not exceed 240. However, each client has the right to choose an installment higher than the minimum value, as long as the maximum installment limit is respected.
Meanwhile, for non-family clients, including private, budgetary and non-budgetary clients, they will pay in installments determined based on the amount of the obligation. The scheme for non-family clients starts from 24 installments, for the amount of the obligation of 100,000 to 500,000 lek, up to 120 installments where the amount of the obligation is determined from 5 million and 1 lek to 10 million lek.
As part of these measures, OSHEE Group has also approved significant reductions in late payment interest for clients who choose to liquidate the entire obligation in a single installment. Family clients benefit from a 70% reduction in late payment interest, while non-family clients (both budgetary and non-budgetary) benefit from a 50% reduction. Small businesses benefit from full (100%) forgiveness of late payment interest, if they repay the obligation immediately.
