OSCE/ODIHR begins monitoring of May 11 elections - Ambassador Zannier: There will be 26 short-term and 300 long-term observers
The OSCE/ODIHR has launched its mission for the May 11 parliamentary elections in Albania, where it will deploy 26 long-term observers and 300 others for a shorter period, who will arrive a few days before the elections.
This mission will be led by Ambassador Lamberto Zannier and will consist of 12 international experts.
"The mission will assess whether these elections are in line with OSCE commitments, other international obligations and standards for democratic elections, as well as with domestic legislation. The campaigns of political forces will also be monitored, both physical and those organized on social networks, " said Ambassador Zannier.
From the findings that the OSCE will develop in the May 11 elections, several reports will be drafted, one of which will be published one day before the elections, while the final report will be released two weeks after them.
“Before the elections, we will have two reports, one of which will be published the day before voting day and will present the main findings. After that, the final report will also contain the relevant recommendations.”
Ambassador Zannier also spoke about the immigrant vote, emphasizing that the monitoring part will be given high importance, as the number of those registered to vote is considerable.
