Production of ballots for the diaspora begins - Celibashi: The electoral envelope will be sent personally to voters
For all voters from abroad who have registered to vote on May 11, the Chief Commissioner of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, emphasized that by April 8, their ballots will be printed by a Slovenian company. Meanwhile, their delivery will be made by April 17.
"The process of printing ballots for voting abroad has begun and we believe that between April 7-8 we will have the ballots here. Between April 8-9-10 we will begin preparing the envelopes and documentation that will be sent to voters, hoping that this process will be completed within April 15-17. Sufficient time according to the contractual provisions that we will have with the postal service operator to send the envelopes, to give them about 3-4 days to fill out the ballot and time to return to the CEC by 19:00 on May 11. We are completing a tutorial on everything that voters from abroad need to do and within 2-3 days it will be made public through the media but also social networks. We are building a system of assistance and advice for voters from abroad if they need clarification on voting procedures. Meanwhile, regarding the voting process within the country, the chief commissioner announced that the recruitment of operators for the use of electronic voting devices has already begun.
"Regarding domestic voting, what we consider most important at the moment is the start of the recruitment process for operators to use the electronic voting device. This process has started a few days ago, there are 6,500 applications for operators but 5,200 voting centers. The final number of voting centers will be released after the General Directorate of Civil Status forwards to the CEC the latest extract of the list of voters within the country. We have prepared a program to address the training of operators. In the meantime, we are in the process of technically preparing these devices."
The electronic voting process has begun preparations and, according to Celibashi, within 2 weeks they will be installed in several points in administrative unit 10 of the Tirana municipality as well as the municipality of Vora.
