Operation "SCAMS", arrests and seizures for financial fraud/ Call-center administrator handcuffed, over 100 thousand euros seized
The Directorate for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes at the State Police has discovered and closed another Call Center in Tirana, which served to deceive European citizens, convincing them to invest in fictitious stock exchanges. The administrator of this entity, a 28-year-old young man and his associate have been arrested, and at the same time, 38 citizens employed in that call center have been criminally prosecuted.
After the operation that the police had codenamed "SCAMS", a total of around 107 thousand euros and 700,000 new lek, 51 computer units, 14 mobile phones, lists with the names of clients and the amounts received, etc. were seized.
The entity that operated on “Bardhok Biba” Street in the capital was licensed for marketing, support and consultancy in any legal activity in the territory of the Republic of Albania and abroad. In reality, the entity was operating an illegal Call Center with the aim of defrauding European citizens.
In the list of objectives set by managers and the bonuses that operators received based on the objectives, an activity of 1.5 million euros was required for the month of October.
The checks for this activity have also been extended to the apartments of the associates of the administrator of the entity in question, where a portion of the money was also seized.
The arrested persons are accused of the criminal offenses of "Fraud with serious consequences"; "Illegal employment" and "Hiding income".
