In 10 months, less energy was produced - Rain does not favor local generation. Less network loss
Energy production fell during the 10th month of this year, compared to the same period last year. According to data from the Energy Regulatory Agency, in total for the period January-October, from all generating sources in the country, about 6.36 million mWh of energy was produced, or 0.74 million mWh of energy less than the 10-month period of last year when about 7.1 million MWh. The amount of production depends on the hydrological conditions, which means that the current year has not been very favorable in this regard.
The Albanian Electricity Corporation has produced about 59% of the total amount. In addition to the 3 hydropower plants of the Cascade of Drin, part of this amount is also the energy produced by the solar plant in Karavasta, according to the contract between the parties, as well as the solar plant in Qyrsaq.
Meanwhile, for the 10-month period, consumption has shown a slight increase compared to the period January-October 2023, reaching about 6.61 million mWh, from 6.43 million mWh that was years ago.
The level of losses in the distribution network for the first 10 months of this year was recorded at 17.27%, or 1.43% less than the same period of 2023, when it was estimated at 18.7%. Meanwhile, the level of collections is estimated at 99.7%. Meanwhile, the performance of the sector will also affect the government's proposal for reducing the price of electricity, which should be presented within this year.
