Minister Koçiu introduces the new Chief Inspector of IKMT - Afrim Qëndro replaces Dallëndyshe Bici in this position

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Albana Koçiu, today introduced the new Chief Inspector of the National Inspectorate of Territorial Protection (IKMT), Afrim Qëndro, who recently held the position of Prefect of Tirana District, replacing Dallëndyshe Bici in this position.
During her speech, Minister Koçiu stated that "Qëndro will take on the role of head of the Inspectorate for the Protection and Control of Territory, a role which in itself carries challenges but also a great responsibility in terms of implementing legality and protecting the territory. Arrim comes from an extraordinary experience in public institutions and has shown that with his dedication and professionalism he knows how to create a team, squad, but also knows how to demand that tasks be respected and implemented as they should be."
The appointment comes at a key moment for strengthening the role of IKMT in guaranteeing law enforcement in the territory and decisively confronting any illegality in the field of construction and public space administration.
Chief Inspector Qëndro guaranteed maximum commitment to strengthening the institution's capacities, close cooperation with local and central structures, as well as full transparency in the exercise of his duties.
"I see the important new task that has been assigned to me as an added appreciation and trust. I think that control over the territory to prevent all violations is much more important than the demolition of unauthorized buildings. The teamwork of this institution must be responsible, transparent and in accordance with the law," said the Chief Inspector.
"IKMT has the duty to implement and monitor the new legal basis, which has already been in force since last October. It is the duty of Afrim Qëndro and his team to advance this reform and of course to raise to another level all the good work that this Inspectorate has done so far", underlined Koçiu.
