88% of new cars with hybrid electric technology - DPSHTRR: Car fleet, more environmentally friendly

The Albanian vehicle market is experiencing a transformation towards cleaner and more efficient technologies. According to official data published by the General Directorate of Road Transport Services (DPSHTRR), during January of this year, 88% of vehicles with 0 kilometers registered in the country are Electric Hybrid Plug-in.
This represents an increase of 10.2% compared to January 2025, confirming the trend of consumers moving towards vehicles with advanced technology and lower environmental impact. The figures show an increased awareness of the importance of reducing pollutant gas emissions.
Plug-in Hybrid vehicles combine an electric motor with an internal combustion engine, offering the possibility of charging from the electrical network and greater autonomy compared to traditional hybrids. This technology enables significant fuel savings, lower operating costs and reduced pollution in urban areas.
The increase in registrations of these vehicles is considered a step towards creating a cleaner, more efficient and more environmentally friendly fleet, while also bringing Albania closer to European standards for sustainable mobility. The positive trend is also expected to continue in the coming months.
