The Minister of Finance introduces the new Director General of Customs, Besmir Beja

The Minister of Finance, Mr. Petrit Malaj, today introduced the new Director General of Customs, Mr. Besmir Beja, who takes office replacing Mr. Gent Gazheli.
During the presentation, Mr. Gazheli's contribution to the direction of the customs administration was appreciated, and the importance of institutional continuity and further strengthening of the role of Customs in supporting the country's economic development was emphasized.
The new Director, Mr. Beja, emphasized that the main priorities of his work will be to increase the commitment and accountability of all customs structures, strengthen inter-institutional cooperation and further advance integration processes, in accordance with European standards and best practices.
Special attention will be paid to the inclusion and expansion of intelligent systems and modern technologies, with the aim of increasing efficiency, transparency and control in customs processes, as well as increasing budget revenues through the fight against informality and evasion.
The commitment to strengthening security at customs points, ensuring effective border control and protecting the public interest, by ensuring a safe and reliable environment for citizens and businesses, was also underlined.
The Customs Administration remains committed to continuing structural reforms and modernization of services, in the function of European integration and sustainable development of the country.
