Asian cars increase their presence on Albanian roads - DPSHTRR: 6-month period, Korean vehicles top the list
During the first half of the year, Korea was the main country of origin of vehicles registered for the first time in Albania. Data published by the General Directorate of Road Transport Services (GDRT) show that vehicles imported from this country account for 25.2% of total new registrations, maintaining the first place in the list of countries from which Albanians choose to import their vehicles.
Following the Republic of Korea is China, with 16.9% of first-time registrations. The increase in the presence of vehicles of Chinese origin reflects the trend of recent years, where Asian manufacturers are offering new models and modern technologies, especially in the electric and hybrid vehicle segment.
Meanwhile, Germany continues to remain one of the main sources of imported vehicles in Albania. 12% of vehicles registered for the first time during the period January-June 2026 originated from Germany. Italy ranks next with 11.6%, confirming that traditional European markets continue to have an important share in vehicle imports into the country.
On the other hand, vehicles originating from the United States of America account for 8.1% of the total, as well as Switzerland with 6.8%. Vehicles coming from these countries continue to be preferred by a portion of Albanian citizens.
According to DPSHTRR data, vehicles of Asian origin are increasingly gaining ground, while imports from European countries and the United States continue to play an important role in the fleet of vehicles added to road traffic in the country.
