Non-stop movement at Albania's border points - On average, 74 people have entered or exited the territory every minute
For every minute of last year, an average of 74 local and foreign people entered or exited Albania through the country's border points.
According to the annual report of the Ministry of Interior, over 39 million entries and exits of Albanian and foreign citizens were recorded during 2024. Compared to 2023, this represents an increase of 11.3 million movements, or 29% more.
Meanwhile, according to official data from the Institute of Statistics, the annual growth in entries and exits is estimated at only 14%.
Along the same lines, the Ministry of Interior reports that the flow of vehicles entering and exiting the country's territory, through land and sea border points, has also increased significantly.
Last year, around 10.4 million vehicles were recorded crossing the Albanian border. In simple terms, this means that for every minute of 2024, around 20 vehicles entered or left the country.
The significant increase in mobility is closely related to the development of the tourism sector, which has seen record figures over the past year.
Another influential factor has been the increase in Albanian travel abroad, especially through low-cost flights operating at Rinas International Airport. These have encouraged more departures from the territory for vacations, but also for other purposes such as work, education or family visits.
