The Assembly elects the 4 members of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania - Professionals of the economy and the banking sector

The Albanian Parliament has approved in a marathon plenary session the election of new members to the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania, the highest decision-making body of the country's central financial institution.
With 74 votes in favor, 16 against and no abstentions, the election of Selami Xhepa as a member of the Supervisory Council was approved. Xhepa is an economist and lecturer with over 20 years of academic experience.

With 72 votes in favor, 19 against and 1 abstention, the former President of the Constitutional Court, Holta Zaçaj, was also elected to this position.
Likewise, with 74 votes in favor, 17 against and 0 abstentions, the Assembly approved the election of former Finance Minister Ervin Mete.
Jonida Prifti, a banking sector professional with international experience, was elected with 73 votes in favor, 18 against and no abstentions.
Meanwhile, the draft decision for the election of Matilda Shehu, at the request of the Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, will be voted on in another session.
The election of the members of the Supervisory Council comes at a key moment for the country's monetary policy and financial stability, while the Bank of Albania continues to play a central role in maintaining price stability and supervising the banking system.
