Where in Europe can you vacation for less than 100 euros? British agency lists Tirana as the cheapest alternative
Tirana has been ranked as the most economical destination in Europe for a city break, according to an analysis published by Thomas Cook, a well-known British travel agency. According to the ranking, a tourist spends an average of 59 euros per day in the Albanian capital, including accommodation, food and drinks, and transport.
With this cost, Tirana ranks at the top of the list of European cities analyzed for the best value for money, positioning itself ahead of some of the continent's popular tourist destinations.
After Tirana comes Bucharest in Romania, with a daily cost of 66 euros per person. Antalya in Turkey and Warsaw in Poland share third place, with 78 euros per day each. Istanbul ranks fifth, with 82 euros, while Mugla and Krakow share sixth place with 87 euros each. Vilnius and Frankfurt rank eighth, with 90 euros each, followed by Lyon with 91 euros. Next, Tallinn ranks with 93 euros, Heraklion with 99 euros, while Porto closes the list with 100 euros per day per person.
Tirana's advantage becomes even more apparent compared to other cities on the list. A day's stay in the Albanian capital costs 7 euros less than in Bucharest, while the difference with Porto, the most expensive city on this list, reaches 41 euros per day per person.
The ranking includes not only the price of the hotel, but also the expenses that a tourist may have during the day, making it a broader indicator of the cost of a trip.
In a European market where price has become one of the main factors in choosing a destination, Tirana thus appears as the most affordable alternative for tourists looking for an urban vacation on a controlled budget.
