Albanian shoes are sold everywhere in European markets - Balluku: The conclusion of quality contracts is expanding the sector
The manufacturing industry in the country is managing to sign quality contracts with large markets such as Italy and Switzerland. In a meeting at a shoe manufacturing company in Patos, Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku indicated that this is very good news for this sector.
"The contracts are in the European market, in Italy and Switzerland, with the most well-known markets. In fact, work done by hand is valued more than that done by machines. All your contracts are with the most well-known companies in Europe and you are being asked to expand. It is very important that you have succeeded, this means that the working conditions are good and the payments must be high."
According to data from INSTAT, "Made in Albania" textile exports have declined since the euro's devaluation. However, the sector now appears to be recovering.
"The conclusion of quality contracts is true, as on another occasion, when I was with the managers of a tailoring company in Lushnje, they told me that they have not been affected by the euro hit and have not had to lay off staff, but on the contrary they want to expand due to the cooperation they have with major brands in Europe."
According to official data in recent months, the textile and clothing export market is diversifying and is managing to capture European markets with new contracts.
