Safe crossing at Qukës-Qafë Plloçë - ARRSH opens the maintenance tender with a limit fund of around 32 million lekë
The maintenance of the Qukës – Qafë Plloçë road is expected to cost around 32 million lekë. The Albanian Road Authority has opened a tender for the performance maintenance of the new axis for a period of 12 months, while the contract foresees routine services, such as cleaning the road, canals or vegetation, winter services, as well as response to unforeseen natural phenomena, in order to guarantee safety during vehicle traffic.
Part of the maintenance package are also the two tunnels of the segment, with lengths of 716 m and 311 m. According to the technical report, for the most exposed segments, intensification of snow removal and frost management is required, using dedicated fleets and protocols to maintain service levels throughout the cold season.
The conclusion of the tender procedures and the signing of the contract for this road axis is of particular importance, as the segment lies in mountainous terrain and questions have often been raised as to whether it could be at risk from snow or frost blockage. However, during the inauguration it was announced that the maintenance companies operating in our country have sufficient experience to guarantee that the road is not blocked and can be circulated safely.
The 43.3 km long Qukës–Qafë Plloçë road segment is considered a strategic axis connecting Tirana with Korça and serving the communities of the Mokra area. It was opened to traffic in early September, after many years of delays in the works.
