"Artificial Intelligence in Procurement" - Rama: We will start at the end of next year
Albania is getting ready to "embrace" artificial intelligence in all areas, including public procurement. During the "Franco-Albanian Week on Artificial Intelligence" conference, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the champion achievement of procurement with AI, without human contact, will soon be realized, as the only country in Europe to implement this model.
"This platform is capable of enabling Albanian institutions to adapt EU legislation to that of Albania. Work is underway to overlap EU laws with Albanian ones. In procurement, we were the last country in the region, but now, according to the EU, we are the leader, with 80 points out of 100, while the second place has 70 points. But this is more than that; we are working with Microsoft on procurement with artificial intelligence."
The Prime Minister emphasized that this AI project will immensely help Albanian institutions with the advanced technology platform, to adapt and adopt EU laws in the Albanian administrative system. It also aims at the technological development of offices, where services will be provided digitally, without human contact.
"A platform so that citizens do not have to wait in line. Services will be received from wherever an Albanian citizen is. We removed the waiting rooms and queues, where tips were also given. We have an ambitious plan to conclude negotiations with the EU within 2027. The main project and plan is EU integration and the conclusion of negotiations. This window will not stay open for long, so we must hurry to use it. I am proud of what we have done so far. Extraordinary work is being done with the help of artificial intelligence. We have a large team of drafters and lawmakers working on this transformation. For Croatia, which has a record, the negotiations lasted 7 years, while we are looking for another model, using AI to adapt our legislation with the help of this platform."
Prime Minister Rama stated that the goal of these projects is for Albania to become a champion country in e-governance.
