Tax coffers "inflated", 231 million euros more - 6 months 2024/ Budget revenues increase, plan exceeded
Revenues collected by the tax administration have had positive performance, following an increasing trend throughout the first half of the year.
According to data from the General Directorate of Taxes, total revenues for the first 6 months of 2025 reached 224.1 billion lek, exceeding the planned figure by approximately 2.7 billion lek or 27 million euros.
Compared to the first 6 months of 2024, revenues have exceeded 23.1 billion lek or about 231 million euros.
Tax revenues include revenues from net VAT in the country, profit tax, personal income tax, national taxes, which have started the year with positive performance.
The main weight in the increase has been held by revenues generated from Value Added Tax, which also indicates the increasing consumption among the population, influenced by tourism, which is distributed throughout the year, and mainly in the off-season months is concentrated in historical and mountainous areas.
Followed by the personal income tax, which reflects the increased salaries of the administration and the private sector, as well as the positive effects that the anti-informality reform has had in this regard. Also, the declaration and payment of the DIVA obligation by employees in the country seems to have made an important contribution.
Another item that is experiencing progressive growth is related to revenues from special funds, social and health insurance, collected by the Tax Administration, which also reflect the wage increase reform and the one against their under-declaration.
Profit Tax and National Taxes have also recorded positive performance in terms of contribution to the state budget.
