"Farmers should unite to receive financing"/ Rama: You cannot sell with bags on the streets of Brussels
Farmers need to unite to market products under a certain brand, reduce costs, receive more financing and be competitive in the European Union. During a meeting with farmers in Dibër, Prime Minister Edi Rama stressed that if farmers do not unite in an Agricultural Cooperation Society, they will not survive after EU integration.
"Union is needed and for this reason we have established support for the union, financial, institutional and alliance with the state. In Dibra, the SHBB is built between farmers and the municipality and the municipality is a shareholder. But not to take your profits, but it is a shareholder in a company that you have called "Dibra Origin", for the European market. It starts to become a brand and because of the brand people demand products. Otherwise, we cannot withstand the big clash that will come when we become part of the EU. We will enter that whole big market one by one and survive? Where will we sell the products? With bags on the streets of Brussels? How will food security be achieved? How will production costs be reduced", Rama explained.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the problem is not money, because it is available. According to him, applications for the soft credit line for the doubling of enterprises will soon be opened.
"The problem is no longer with money. All those who want to work with the land must understand this. We need not only to produce apples and cherries, but to produce by-products, process them, to increase the value and for these things, to open a production, processing, dairy point, the problem is no longer with money but with the project and the application because the money is there. And in a few days we will sign the agreement with the banks and we will make available to those who want to double their enterprise, low-interest loans and state guarantees", said Rama.
Rama also made an appeal to the heads of municipalities, setting as a condition that through the mountain package they enable the establishment of 10 agrotourism and 3 Agricultural Cooperative Societies, otherwise they will not be re-nominated.
