The Director General of Customs, Besmir Beja, held a meeting with representatives of businesses that have applied for Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status.

In his speech, Director Beja emphasized that the Customs Administration is at the service of entrepreneurship and praised the applicants for AEO status as among the most regular enterprises in the country and true partners of customs, emphasizing that cooperation with business is essential for fair and secure trade.

During the meeting, the progress of the applications and the necessary steps until the approval of the status were discussed. Director Beja underlined that the goal is for the process to proceed at a faster pace, but without compromising the necessary standards and verifications. “Our joint commitment is to act efficiently and achieve the best possible results”, said Director Beja.

Participating businesses expressed positive evaluations of the cooperation with the Customs Administration, describing it as a partner and supporter, not only in the procedural aspect of obtaining AEO status, but also in communication and ongoing technical assistance.

In conclusion, the Director General of Customs emphasized that the institution will proactively follow up on each application, being close to the business and reacting quickly to any need or problem that arises during the process of obtaining AEO status.

Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status is granted to reliable economic operators, who benefit from customs simplifications and facilitations, after an assessment process on the correctness of doing business in accordance with the law. So far, 18 companies operating in different market sectors have benefited from this status, while 13 companies have also applied.

To obtain AEO status, operators must meet clear criteria, such as compliance with customs and tax legislation, financial sustainability, appropriate management systems and high security standards in the trade chain.

Benefits for businesses that hold this status include more favorable treatment in risk assessment and customs controls, simplified or exclusive access to certain facilitation procedures, as well as opportunities for mutual recognition with other countries, increasing their credibility and competitiveness in international markets.
